Since he first made his appearance on the hairdressing scene in 1997 Jorge Alfaro has been revolutionising the art of hair cutting and styling. His informal education began when Adam Browne the Director of Global Hair, introduced him to the National Hair Expo Seminars, where Jorge was granted leave to rub shoulders with the likes of Trevor Sorbie and other leading hair stylists. In 1999 the young stylist won a competitive apprenticeship with Antony Whitaker Hairdressing, where he was able to fine-tune his skills and begin to craft his own unique and iconic style. By 2002, Jorge was the Artistic Director of Gibara, a cutting-edge salon that allowed creative work with high-end publications. While stamping his signature style on editorial and advertorial shoots Jorge was also assisting with runway styles including those featured at the celebrated Mercedes Australian Fashion Weeks. His standout work created a backdrop for a spectrum of collections, including the designs of Scanlan & Theodore, Alannah Hill, Leona Edminston and Fashion Assassin. Less than two years later Barney Martin Hairdressing enlisted Jorge as their Artistic Director where his talents continued to shine. At the 2005 National Hair Expo the Artistic Director was awarded finalist positions in the categories: ‘New Creative Force’ and ‘Best Photographic Collection’. To date, Jorge has recently made his debut styling for the stage and has also been commissioned to play a role in the Wella Education Program. |
