In a once run-down sector of the city, but now decidedly on the up, Hair by Jorge Alfaro is acknowledged as a frontrunner in creating the ‘new salon’ experience. Breaking tradition and changing attitudes within the industry, the space at Studio 3, 220 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst, has no salon front or street presence, just a nondescript door and buzzer.

On entering, the result is rather low-key, a private oasis of creativity with an eclectic mix of furnishings. Sit on the large terrace over-looking the city and feel like a privileged member of a club, part of an elite group of sussed Sydney-siders.

Beyond the cool of the salon, Jorge and his team have their feet firmly on the ground. With innovative cuts and a growing reputation, Hair by Jorge Alfaro is an experience worth searching out.
